Background

It has been almost six years since the end of the Cedrin Wars. The vast Peloponnesian Empire lies shattered into scores of warring city-states. Many of these states are Hellenistic; their leaders once proud nobles and senators of the Empire. Now they strive with one another over claims of royal birthrights and petty trade disputes. Other city-states have been founded by the invading Gauls, Celts, and Norsemen. Still more are controlled by former slaves - the ancient Etruscans, Romans, Lydians, and Iberians; to name just a few.

However, one small remnant of the old Empire remains. Having fled the armies of their enemies during the war, the Senate has established itself on the ancient Isle Of Light, Phosinesos. Led by a former slave and gladiator, Vandal, they held off the combined might of Drow, Orc, and Demons while legendary heroes destroyed Cedrin, thus ending an ancient plan set in motion by Nyx, the power of darkness.

Now, attempting to re-establish itself on the mainland, the Senate and Emperor Vandal have supported the efforts of a half-elven war general, Lord Kethor, in his bid to build a colony there. Commanding 3 legions, each legion being roughly 5000 men-at-arms, he holds a 100 mile arc of land against other city-states, brigands,  and monsters still roaming the landscape following the retreat of the Drow and their allies.

Part 1- The Village at L'Essen Creek

The adventure begins with the party making their way north along the coast road. Spying a tower in the distance, they quicken their pace and are soon entering the Village of L'Essen. Within the village, they will meet the main NPCs and learn that orcs have captured the young nephew of local craftsman. He has gathered a wagon of food and a small chest of gold that he is willing to pay the orcs in ransom. Now, if only he could find someone to deliver it and rescue the helpless boy.

Part 2- Frultig ( Orcish Settlement )

Once the group agrees to deliver the ransom and rescue the boy, they will be introduced to a local Ranger who is willing to show them the way to the Orc camp. It will take several days through wilderness territory. As they approach, a strange mist turns the sky red, growing deeper and more menacing as they approach the foul-smelling village of Frultig.

Your escort to see the Orc leader.

Apparently, no one paid their ransom.

As you advance, a red fog rolls in.

Your first sight of the prisoners.

Even the fighter is being none too careful.

Maybe we can rest here. On second thought...
